How To Make Your New Year's Resolutions Achievable This Year
Turning over from one year to the next is more like turning the page to a book than we realize. The desire to put certain aspects of the past year firmly in the past can often be the driving force to making resolutions. In the end, this is merely goal setting. It is trendy this time of year and I think that can be a mistake. It’s never a bad idea to set goals for yourself but do it with your best interests at heart and not because it’s the thing to do this time of year. Set goals that are meaningful, goals that have repercussions if broken. More so than ‘oh well I totally wanted to lose weight, but then all the holiday candy got to me.’ Have variety in your goals. By making some short-term goals, then achieving them, you can build momentum while striving towards achieving long term goals. What is a short-term goal?
- working out three times a week
- Drinking 8 glasses of water daily
What is a long-term goal?
- Swimming 90-minute workouts instead of 60
- Holding your heart rate at 150 for 30 minutes instead of 15
Make your goals achievable, realistic, and valuable this year.
